Randomisation:

Randomisation refers to the way a woman in the POP-OUT Trial is assigned to either having a manual rotation or not having one.  The selection is made by a computer and is like flipping a coin - if it is 'heads' then we would perform a manual rotation, if it is a 'tails', we would not.

Because of the way the POP-OUT Trial is designed, we will not inform the woman which group she is in (so she will not know whether or not a manual rotation was performed).  Neither will we inform her support person, or the midwives and doctors involved in her care.  This is important to avoid our study producing biased or incorrect results.
